My second international trip was to Hungary at 16-years of age. Hungary is a landlocked country, one of the oldest in Europe. It is rich in history, which can be seen in its Roman, Turkish and Greek influenced architecture. And the remnants of Communism is still evident within its borders. Known for their folklore music, hot springs and yummy food, it is truly a beautiful country. Mexico was my second international trip with the kiddies alone. I was born in Puerto Rico and am fluent in Spanish so I figured I would be comfortable traveling alone with the kiddies there. My friends had also been planning a trip to Mexico around the same time so we wanted to make sure to link up for at least one day. My girlfriend and I come from similar backgrounds. For the Summer (July) of 2017, I wanted to take the kiddies on another adventure. We held a travel family meeting and decided that the top things on our list to see were cool ruins and sunny beaches. My research thus led me to Mexico, home to one of the most famous ruins and a World Wonder, Chichen Itza! I Survived the Inca Trail!
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the embodiment of “it’s the journey, not the destination”. It has been on my bucket list for years, but life as it does always got in the way!
